Most games that are being released in this era are top notch in more ways than one. Probably the first thing that is always criticized and look at are the graphics. In Granny Game , though the Granny is nightmare inducing, she graphically does not look that great. Granny looks like a carved wood with pingpong ball eyes. The sounds also are not that special. They are just simple house noises that are paired with a really creepy strings instrument. Lastly, the game play is not ultra complicated. In fact, there is only one goal which is to escape Granny’s house. The other tasks are just supplementary to the overall objective. Also, the fact that it is arcade means that the task can eventually be completed in quite a short period of time or you will fail and redo everything again. Despite these obvious apparent downers, the quality of Granny as a game was never ever affected. In fact, I daresay, these things are what contribute to the overall greatness and feel of the game. The graphics which are blocky and 90s like is really creepy because of how dark and grainy it looks. It feels like, at any moment, something monstrous will come out of a nook or cranny. The simple sounds with a slightly creepy background make everything ten times more unnerving because it feels like you are alone. Lastly, games do not have to be complicated and Granny is proof of that. It can be simple yet exciting all the same.
